How to Umpire

Sign in, accept your game, and keep the official score from your phone. This guide stays public so you can reopen it from the field.

Before you arrive

Get your phone ready

Charge your phone and bring a backup battery if you have one.
Make sure you can open the email address used for your umpire signup.
Open Practice First once so the scoring controls feel familiar.

Step one

1. Sign in

Open Scorekeeper and enter the email address used for your umpire signup. If you do not have a password, choose Sign in with Email Link.

Open the email on the same phone you will use at the field.
Tap the sign-in button in the message within 15 minutes.
Umpire accounts go directly to My Games after sign-in.

Step two

2. Accept your game

A dispatched game appears at the top of My Games under Your Next Game. Check the time and field, then tap Got it.

No game yet? That is normal. Refresh once, then wait for the coordinator to dispatch one. A game cannot be scored until you confirm it.

Step three

3. Score the game

Open the confirmed game, verify the teams and field, and tap Start Game. The large controls are designed for one-handed use beside the field.

Record each play as it happens and watch the score and inning at the top.
Use Undo or score correction immediately when you make a mistake.
Flag the game when the booth needs to resolve a ruling or technical issue.

If service drops

Keep scoring on the same phone

The amber offline banner means events are saving locally. Keep the tab open and continue the game. When service returns, the pending queue will synchronize automatically.

Do not clear browser data, sign out, or move the game to another phone while events are waiting to sync.

Final whistle

Finish and hand off

Review both team scores before ending the game. The completed result enters Pending Review until central command confirms it. Return to My Games and wait for your next dispatch.

Quick fixes

Troubleshooting

No game listed

Pull to refresh or tap Refresh. Your game appears only after the coordinator dispatches it to you.

Cannot sign in

Use Sign in with Email Link and check spam. Use the same email address you used when volunteering.

Phone goes offline

Keep scoring on the same phone. Do not clear browser data or switch devices. The queue syncs after service returns.

Wrong score or unclear ruling

Use Undo or score correction right away. Flag the game when central command needs to help.
